“We care about people. We want them to develop good sportsmanship, self-discipline, a sense of responsibility, and a feeling of belonging. We want them to have an opportunity to learn to cope with success and failure. Pony Club offers all of this through equestrian involvement.”

Marylou Anderson,

USPC President, 1983 – 1985

Briones Valley Pony Club got its start with the Contra Costa Pony Club, originally founded in 1962 by Mary Lou Reese.  Contra Costa Pony Club later became Reliez Valley Pony Club, then Bay Hills Pony Club.  Bay Hills Pony Club became two Clubs in 1999, when the Briones Valley Pony Club was founded.

Today, our Club has a very active membership of 12 Pony Clubbers ranging from 7 to 23 years of age.

Briones Valley Pony Club belongs to the Middle California Region of the United States Pony Clubs.  Our Region consists of 22 clubs and 2 riding centers located from the San Francisco Bay Area, south to Bakersfield.

Our Club meets at Poplar Place Stables & Eventing in the Briones Valley, located between Lafayette, Orinda, and Martinez in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area.
